Jonathan, or Johnny as he is known to his friends and family, is a sociable and extroverted young boy who started at Pasitos de Luz in 2015 at the age of 8. He is now 15 years old. Johnny loves taking part in group activities and sports, and also enjoys being out in our garden spaces, where he is able to relax and where he feels happy. In particular, he enjoys Temazcal, a traditional Mexican steam therapy that is popular with many of our kids.
Johnny is diagnosed with psychomotor delay and flat foot. When we first started treating him at Pasitos de Luz, he found it impossible to walk by himself or run. He was extremely shy and unsociable, only communicating through gestures and by pointing at things.
Our team at Pasitos de Luz has worked hard with Johnny to successfully improve his quality of life. His self-confidence has really increased, and now he can walk and run all by himself. He especially loves playing football. Since we moved to Casa Connor, Johnny has benefited from joining in with Temazcal (a traditional Mexican steam therapy) and other outdoor activities, which have enabled him to become more independent and sure of himself. He can now hold short conversations. We have high hopes for Johnny. We will work with him to improve his posture and coordination, and we will also work on his speech and his reading and writing skills.
Johnny lives with his mom, dad, his grandmother, an aunt and his younger brother. By coming to Pasitos de Luz, Johnny has learned the importance of sticking to rules, both at home and at school, and has also improved his personal hygiene. He is much more self-assured as he learns to interact with children his own age.
Pasitos de Luz is a civil association in Banderas Bay. It is a registered non- profit organization founded by mothers of disabled children to meet their therapeutic, psychological, nutritional, educational and basic needs.
