Pasitos de Luz is a fully registered charity in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. The charity was officially registered in November 2000 and has been built with love and enthusiasm to meet its charitable mission. Our mission is to support single moms or families with limited resources who have a child with a disability. The officially registered name for the charity is Mamás Unidas por la Rehabilitación de sus Hijos A.C. (Mothers United for the Rehabilitation of their Children A.C.).

Pasitos de Luz is officially registered and recognized by the Jalisco State Organization for Charities, IJAS (Instituto Jalisciense de Asistencia Social) with number 010-070.(5.160)-DGAS-2011-223.

We have been officially registered as a charity with the Mexican Inland Revenue office (SAT) since January 2008 and can give tax deductible receipts; this status was renewed in 2012. Pasitos de Luz can provide tax deductible receipts in Mexico and through partner organizations in Canada and United States.

We are also registered with CLUNI, the federal register of civil organizations in Mexico, with registration number MUR00112314014.

Nationally we are the only civil association that provides all the following services for free to children with a disability in extreme poverty and/or have limited resources: 

Basic baby-sitting and care

Physical hygiene, bathing, changing, etc.

Healthy nutrition, with breakfast and lunch every day

Special education classes

Speech therapy

Hydro massage

Recreational therapy, including music, singing and dancing

Art (paint workshop)

Consultations and access to specialists, doctors and psychologists

Awards and Honours

We belong to the Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay Network of Charities, in which we participate as a recognized and prestigious organization, working for the benefit of disabled children and their families. We continue to strive at improving our services so that we can offer the highest levels of professionalism and training for our staff and volunteers.

We have been recognized as a Preferred Institution by local, municipal and state government.

In 2009 we received an award delivered by GAP (Pacific Airport Group) for our commitment to youth services in Puerto Vallarta.

We received the Altruism Award for services to the city in 2009. This Selfless Work Award recognized our great social assistance in our tourist destination on May 31, 2009.

We received a special award from the Vallarta Institute for services to the community in 2012.

In 2015, Yolanda Sánchez, founder of Pasitos de Luz, received the Woman of Excellence Award from the Women’s Institute, a department within the Puerto Vallarta Municipal Government.

In 2019, we were honoured to be nominated in the category of Best Community Charity in the Best of Banderas Bay & Riviera Nayarit Awards 2019-20. We were even more honoured to have won!

In light of her “superhuman effort and dedication, as well as her commitment to altruism”, Yolanda Sánchez in 2021 was nominated by TV Azteca for the “Citizen of the Year” award for the state of Nayarit. She ended up taking home the award!
