Pasitos de Luz and its partner agencies (MCA Mexico’s Canadian Angels Foundation in Canada and Children’s Shelter of Hope Foundation in USA) facilitate giving for donors who identify with their mission and vision.
Specifically, Pasitos de Luz focuses on helping children with disabilities that require critically-needed services. We provide special needs children in the Bay of Banderas and Puerto Vallarta areas of Mexico with access to a wide range of therapies, necessary nutrition, basic education, social & cultural interactions and more. Most of the families live on or below the poverty line and our services are 100% free of charge to the families.

How to Create a Legacy Gift
Your legacy gift can potentially allow you to provide financial support for the special needs children that we supports that might otherwise go to government taxes. It is essential for you to work with financial, legal and tax professionals to maximize financial benefits for you, your loved ones as well as the children who attend at Casa Connor. To determine how to best protect and wisely gift your resources, please discuss your Legacy Gift and intentions with:

- the executor of your estate

Legal Nomenclature
Casa Connor is the name of the facility where the Pasitos de Luz children attend. However, it is very important to recognize that Pasitos de Luz is not a legally registered name – it is our charity’s popular name, meaning Little Steps of Light. Casa Connor is also not a legally registered name. As such, it is essential to know the legally registered names to ensure your legacy gift accurately reflects the legal charity to avoid issues upon its distribution.

The country where you develop your last will and testament and pay taxes can dictate how to identify your legacy gift aimed at supporting children with disabilities.
Canadians
If you are interested in supporting children with disabilities as identified by MCA and the mission of MCA, please specify your legacy gift to MCA Mexico’s Canadian Angels Foundation. Any legacy gifts from Canadian donors must reflect the legally registered Canadian Charity MCA Mexico’s Canadian Angels Foundation. Mamás Unidas por la Rehabilitación de sus Hijos A.C. has been officially registered as a charity with the Mexican Inland Revenue office (SAT) since January 2008 and can give tax deductible receipts; this status was renewed in 2012. Our RFC is MUR001123LL1.
Options for Legacy Gifts
Your legacy gift can include options such as real estate, cash, securities, or a specified amount of your estate. The following provide examples of legacy gifts that Mamás Unidas por la Rehabilitación de sus Hijos A.C. can accept.
Bequests
- You can make a bequest in a will or a trust to Mamás Unidas por la Rehabilitación de sus Hijos A.C. or our USA or Canada partner organizations as specified above.
- You can also make a bequest to honour a family member, friend or loved one. Your bequest can be for a specific amount, a percent of an estate or the remainder of an estate after all other bequests are paid.
Cash
Cash of any type will be accepted, including cheques, eTransfers, wired funds, money orders, bank drafts, credit card payments, etc.
Retirement Funds or Life Insurance
You can name the Canadian, US or Mexican charity as noted above as the beneficiary for your retirement funds or life insurance. The donor must agree to pay, before due, any future premium payments owing on the policy.
Securities
You may identify the Canadian, US or Mexican charity as noted above as the beneficiary for a number of types of securities including stocks, bonds or insurance policies. These will be sold immediately unless directed otherwise by the applicable Board of Directors.
Prior Approval Requested
Personal property and real estate may also be accepted after prior review and discussion with the Canadian or US charity, in collaboration with Mamás Unidas por la Rehabilitación de sus Hijos A.C. to ensure viability. We need to determine if we are able to manage the gift and that needed disclosure is communicated on costs that may be incurred once accepted.
Personal Property
Personal property, including items of value such as vehicles, collectibles, etc. may be possible. Depending on the value, a legal transfer or an appraisal certificate may be required from the donor.
Real Estate
Charitable gifts of real estate range from personal residences and vacation homes to rental properties, farmland, and commercially developed land. Criteria for acceptance of gifts of real estate include its usefulness, marketability, any limitations and any carrying costs.
