Without a doubt, the return of doTERRA Healing Hands to Pasitos de Luz was an unforgettable moment. The opportunity to collaborate once again with this incredible essential oils company has elevated the dreams and hopes we hold for our children. If their first visit was amazing, this second one was truly extraordinary.

A few months ago, more than 400 compassionate hearts came together for a day filled with meaningful projects, driven and sponsored by doTERRA. Through this collective effort, we transformed spaces at Pasitos de Luz: we created green and recreational areas, strengthened the safety of our center, advanced sustainable projects, received a generous donation of essential oils along with training on their use, cared for our staff, and filled our facilities with life and color.

It was an experience that strengthened a spirit of service and love, bringing together people from different countries who dedicated their time, energy, and resources to improve the lives of children facing significant challenges.

Our deepest thanks to doTERRA and to each of the more than 400 wellness advocates for planting seeds of hope. We trust they will continue to grow and leave a lasting impact on future generations.

doTERRA Projects

Wall Plastering

👥 90 Volunteers

One of the largest activities. Stucco was applied to both interior and exterior walls to strengthen and improve the appearance of the center’s structures. Volunteers prepared the mixture, transported it using wheelbarrows, and worked in pairs using trays, trowels, and masonry tools. Practical demonstrations were provided for those who had never performed this type of work before. The result: protected walls built to last for many years.

This structural improvement not only enhances the space visually, but also provides greater safety and protection for the children at Pasitos de Luz. Well-maintained facilities create a more reliable, weather-resistant environment where children can play, learn, and receive therapy in safe and dignified conditions.

General White Painting

👥 50 Volunteers

Volunteers were divided into teams to paint different areas of the center using white paint. Exterior spaces and common walls were covered. The use of brushes, rollers, and extension poles allowed for efficient work, improving the visual environment while promoting cleanliness and order.

This renovation not only enhances the center’s appearance, but also creates a brighter, more pleasant, and safer environment for the children. A clean and well-maintained space supports their emotional well-being, provides a more welcoming place for their development, and reflects the care and commitment of the community toward them.

Solar Panel Cleaning and Roof Maintenance

👥 30 Volunteers

A deep cleaning of solar panels and rooftops was carried out using extension tools, soap, brooms, and pressure equipment. This activity helps improve solar energy efficiency while also enhancing the overall cleanliness of the facility. The team demonstrated great physical effort and strong commitment.

Although these areas are not directly accessible to the children, their maintenance supports the proper functioning of the center, helping reduce energy costs and allowing more resources to be directed toward the children’s daily care and support.

Roof Structure Maintenance and Restoration

👥 50 Volunteers

Volunteers worked on sanding and painting metal structures (PTR), applying anti-corrosion coatings and repainting the roofed shade structures. Corrugated sheets and metal grates were also installed to provide better protection from the sun. This structural effort gave new life to the center’s shaded and resting areas.

These improvements provide children at Pasitos de Luz with safer, cooler, and more comfortable spaces to rest, play, or receive outdoor therapies, protecting them from the heat and enhancing their overall well-being.

Planting and Landscaping

👥 30 Volunteers

Divided into different areas, volunteers planted more than 300 plants, added nutrient-rich soil, and placed identification signs. This initiative not only enhances the environment visually, but also promotes emotional well-being and a deeper connection with nature.

For the children at Pasitos de Luz, these green spaces provide a more relaxing, stimulating, and harmonious environment, supporting their sensory and emotional development.

Interaction with Parents and Volunteers

👥 20 Volunteers

Calm and clean spaces were set up with massage tables and aromatherapy to welcome parents and volunteers into a wellness environment. This activity aimed to provide moments of care, relaxation, and emotional support, strengthening the connection with families.

By supporting the emotional well-being of parents, children also benefit, as having calmer and more supported caregivers helps create a stronger and more nurturing environment for their growth and development.

Eco-Friendly Dry Toilet

👥 10 Volunteers

An eco-friendly dry toilet was built using a metal structure, panels, wood, blocks, and sheet materials. Volunteers also carried out painting, sanding, partition installation, and cement mixing. This new space promotes both sustainability and functionality within the facility.

In addition, it provides children at Pasitos de Luz with more hygienic and environmentally friendly facilities, contributing to their health and overall well-being.

Pond Floor and Walkway Construction

👥 20 Volunteers

Divided into two teams, volunteers cleaned, leveled, and poured concrete for both the base of a pond and new walkways. These improvements make transit areas safer and more accessible, especially for individuals with limited mobility.

This directly benefits the children at Pasitos de Luz by making their daily movement easier and providing greater safety and independence within the center.

Tile and Glass Cleaning

👥 5 Volunteers

This small but powerful team carried out a deep cleaning of the pool, removing limescale buildup and tough stains from tiles and glass surfaces. The result was a much more hygienic and visually appealing aquatic area for therapy sessions.

Thanks to this effort, children now have a cleaner and safer space to carry out their aquatic therapies, which are essential for their physical and emotional development.

Murals

👥 50 Volunteers

Divided into five groups, volunteers painted themed murals using brushes and acrylic paint. Each mural represents values such as inclusion, joy, and diversity. These spaces now inspire, communicate, and bring color to the environment at Pasitos de Luz.

For the children, these murals not only beautify their surroundings, but also reinforce positive messages and stimulate their imagination, creativity, and sense of belonging.

Sensory Pathway

👥 15 Volunteers

A creative and functional project that brought a sensory pathway to life using bricks, neon paint, recycled materials, and natural fillers. Handmade curtains were also installed using fishing line, bottle caps, and other objects, creating unique sensory stimuli for therapy sessions.

This space provides children with a playful and therapeutic tool that stimulates their senses, supports their neurological development, and enriches their rehabilitation process in a fun and meaningful way.

Pasitos de Luz Facade

👥 20 Volunteers

The center’s facade was fully restored through plastering, painting, installation of metal grates, planting, and block placement. This work created a renewed, welcoming, and safe first impression for everyone who arrives at Pasitos de Luz.

For the children, this transformation means entering a space that reflects care, order, and warmth, strengthening their sense of belonging and confidence from the very first moment.

Waterproofing of the Orchid Wall

👥 5 Volunteers

An acrylic waterproof coating was applied to a vertical wall, and orchids were planted on carved logs, which were secured with wire. This space has been transformed into a small vertical garden that blends beauty, art, and nature.

For the children at Pasitos de Luz, this green corner offers a more harmonious and stimulating environment, encouraging calmness, curiosity, and a connection with nature as part of their daily experience.

Thermal Insulation Installation in the Kiosk

👥 5 Volunteers

The kiosk’s thermal insulation was improved by installing foam panels on the roof, making the space cooler, more functional, and visually clean.

Thanks to these improvements, children now have a more comfortable and cooler area for outdoor activities, supporting their well-being and focus throughout the day.
