Pasitos de Luz is housed at Casa Connor. Pasitos is a non profit charity that provides care for children with disabilities from low income families. Pasitos is a lifeline for approximately 130 families with a goal of reaching 200 families by 2020. Each day we see approximately 70 children. The children who attend at Casa Connor suffer from acute physical and/or psychological illnesses. We offer a large range of services FREE of charge including physical therapy, psychological care, nutrition and wellness, education programs and so much more!Go to page
The accounting at Pasitos de Luz has always been credible, open and highly transparent. As one mechanism to ensure transparency, we post our financials on our website. As part of initial decisions passed by the Board of Directors, Grant Thornton has been contacted and is now conducting monthly reviews of financials. This additional review by an international accounting and risk management company has been added to increase the profile of our financials and processes, affirm these practices and help us to improve the timeliness of our reporting. Pasitos de Luz has a special group of children who call Casa Connor their “home away from home”. We have been helping some of them since our inception but even more are recent additions to our extended family. After just one visit to Pasitos de Luz we are certain that our children will hold a special place in your heart. You can meet some of them here!Go to page
Pasitos de Luz is pleased to announce that 2017 was another banner year for therapy! We are proud of many achievements through the year and the partnerships we have gained and maintained that provide resources to help us meet our mission.
In 2017, we were able to increase the number of critical therapy services by 37.5%. This is a direct result of our move into Casa Connor. We are now able to serve more children each day and have more space which allows us to provide more therapy sessions simultaneously. The overall number of physical therapy, early stimulation, occupational therapy, hydrotherapy and electrotherapy sessions increased from 5157 sessions in 2015 to 6373 sessions in 2016 to 8965 in 2017.
Pasitos de Luz relies on events and donations to support the children and provide needed services. We have several events that run annually. Events run by Pasitos de Luz volunteers include
January - Deja New Fashion Show at River Cafe each year since 2014
March - Riverfest music festival at El Rio BBQ Bar - each year since 2012
November - Secrets Hotel dinner and show - inaugural year 2016
December - Illumination at Casa Karma - inaugural year 2017
Volunteers are key to our success and our sustainability. We always welcome extra pairs of hands, whether to help at meal times or to assist in games and activities and more! In addition, if you are a trained professional in areas such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy and/or special education, we would love to make the most of your expertise. Regardless of whether you have an hour, a day or an entire season, our team will welcome your assistance and find a place where you can share your talents.
If you believe all kids deserve a chance, please consider joining our volunteer team!
